This recipe is from the CrossFit Journal May 2004 issue. We made both the turkey and beef versions last night and it was pretty good (although green olive is somewhat "unusual" in our version of chili...).
Saute:
1 tsp olive oil with
1/3 cup onion, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
season with garlic, cumin, chili powder and crushed red peppers (I think we used 1/2 tsp each to start... - the recipe is elusive)
Add: 9 oz ground beef or turkey until browned
Add 8 oz. tomato sauce (we used 12 oz. because we thought it needed it)
3/4 cup black beans
3/4 cup kidney beans
30 olives, chopped (!) I think the fat from the olives should equal 13.5g total at most... or 27g if you're doubling fat... since it's in addition to the olive oil and protein fat...?
fresh cilantro to taste
Serve each turkey helping with 1 oz grated cheese (we took that for each 3-block serving) - it does not say to add this for the beef version...
Makes 3 - 3-block servings
